우리 연구실은 사고 시 원자로 시스템에서 발생하는 2상 유동 및 상변화 열전달에 대한 이해를 심화하고, 
이를 바탕으로 가동 원전 및 차세대 원자로의 안전성을 향상시킬 수 있는 열수력 기술을 개발하는 연구들을 수행하고 있습니다.
특히 최근에는 기존의 원전 대비 안전성, 유연성 및 활용성이 대폭 향상된 소형모듈원자로가 가져올 혁신적인 변화에 주목하여,
소형모듈원자로의 핵심 설계기술인 피동형 냉각계통에 대한 열유체 분석과 안전성 평가 분야로 연구 영역을 확장하고 있습니다.

원자력 계통해석 연구실은 학생들이 안정적인 환경에서 창의적이고 도전적인 연구를 통해

SMALL MODULAR REACTOR

혁신형 SMR 피동 안전계통 안전성 평가 기술 개발 연구
소형모듈원자로(SMR)는 기존의 원전보다 출력은 줄이고 안전성은 극대화한 차세대 원자로로서, 국내에서는 2030년대 글로벌 시장 진입을 목표로 혁신형 SMR의 개발이 활발히 진행 중입니다. 혁신형 SMR은 자연 순환을 이용한 피동 안전계통을 적용하여 단순한 설계로 고유 안전성을 확보합니다.
혁신형 SMR의 상용화를 위해서는 혁신 설계의 도입에 따른 원자로의 안전성을 평가할 수 있는 검증기술 개발이 필수적입니다. 우리 연구실은 사고 시 철제형 격납용기의 열제거를 수행하는 피동 안전계통에 대한 안전성 평가 기술을 개발하여 SMR의 안전규제를 위한 기술적 근거를 구축합니다.

ADVANCED CONTAINMENT MODELS

원자로격납건물 열수력 해석 모델 고도화 연구 
사고 조건에서 원전의 최종 물리방벽인 원자로격납건물의 건전성을 유지하기 위해서는 열제거를 통해 격납건물의 압력과 온도를 낮춰주어야 합니다. 그러나 피동열침원 및 살수 유동에 의한 격납건물 열제거 예측은 매우 단순하고 보수적인 모델에 의존해오고 있습니다.
본 연구에서는 격납건물 피동열침원의 응축모델을 고도화하고, 능동 열제거를 위한 살수유동의 기구학적 모델 개발 및 실험 검증을 수행합니다. 이를 통해 격납건물의 안전여유도를 최적 평가하고, 원전의 안전성을 보다 사실적으로 분석하기 위한 통합해석체계의 구현에 기여하고자 합니다.

SEVERE ACCIDENT ANALYSIS

중대사고 시 방사선원항 방출 해석 및 불확실도 분석 연구
노심의 현저한 손상을 초래하는 중대사고 발생 시 핵연료에서 생성된 방사성 물질이 격납건물 내부로 방출되며, 외부 환경으로 누출 시 큰 피해를 유발할 수 있습니다. 따라서 사고의 영향을 최소화하기 위한 사고 관리 및 대응을 위해서는 방사선원항의 방출 및 수송 거동에 대한 이해가 중요합니다.
우리 연구실은 MELCOR, CINEMA와 같은 중대사고 종합해석코드를 활용하여 방사선원항의 방출 거동에 대한 해석 연구를 수행합니다. 이를 바탕으로 각 해석도구가 방사선원항 분석에서 가지는 불확실도를 평가하며, 더 나아가 AI 기반 방사성 물질 방출 저감시스템의 개발에 기여하고자 합니다.
